At one time you would have to travel to the uplands of the north or find a rocky sea cliff to see a peregrine. Peregrine numbers declined dramatically due to persecution and pesticides in the food web until the population hit a low in the 1960s. Since then they have been recovering and can now be found in many cities across the UK. Bristol is thought to have at least four pairs of the birds including this one on a building near the university.
