It was a nice evening last night, so we went for a walk along the Speyside Way near the house. It is one of those occasions where I was glad I had my camera with me as we encountered this tawny owl (Strix aluco) chick sitting out on a branch. This process where the owlets leave the nest and spend a few days sitting in the surrounding branches is known as “branching”.
