There are some days when work is a little more exciting than others. Today was a perfect example of that. I was out doing my usual daily ecology and environmental checks around site when I noticed several waders going crazy and alarm calling. Alarm calling waders isn’t untypical, especially when you have oystercatchers involved as they seem to like nothing better than stressing about nothing. However, on this occasion, they were alerting me to a black kite that just happened to be passing through the glen. I watched it circling for several minutes, it even tried to land for a while until the local waders and hooded crows drove it off.
